November 15, 2005 - Great Ocean Road, Victoria, Australia
Today I woke up and looked out the window and saw two Australian wood ducks and 10 ducklings. While Mom and Dad were packing Frank and I jumped on a HUGE bouncy thing. It was like walking on the moon!
After driving for a while we stopped and did a rainforest walk. It was a temperate rainforest with lots of fern trees, so I guess that’s why it was damp and cold.
While driving we saw some people stopped by the side of the road, so we stopped. There were about a dozen koalas in the trees! They were so cute! One even had a baby!
Later we stopped at the beach. There were tall cliffs there and some rock formations called the Twelve Apostles. There was kelp all over the beach.
We also stopped at the place where the Loch Ard shipwrecked.
As we were driving to our campsite we drove through a wildlife refuge that is in an old volcano crater. We saw emus, koalas, and kangaroos. It was very cool.
We reached our campsite about dark. As we were setting up camp we could hear gliders screeching at us from the trees, but we couldn’t find any before we went to bed. A tiring day!
